Description

This level 2 course will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to work in a variety of secretarial and administrative posts at junior level. It may also be used as a preparatory qualification to the level 3 course.

You will develop essential knowledge of how to carry out every day and more complex administrative tasks, such as managing information, organising travel and supporting events. You will gain an understanding of employment rights, working with others and customer service in a business environment. You will also learn to use office equipment, touch type and produce a wide range of written documentation.

Lessons are taught in bright, modern classrooms using up-to-date software packages that are routinely used in business. You will receive full tutorial support and have access to online resources.

What you will study

  • OCR Level 2 Diploma in Administration (Business Professional)
  • GCSE English and maths if you do not have a grade C/ 4 in these subjects

Assessment

  • Assessment is by course work and assignments, which are both internally and externally assessed
  • Maths and English are external examinations, held throughout the year.

Entry requirements

 

  • Entry Level 3/ Level 1 – There are no entry requirements but if you don’t have any qualifications you will be asked to take an English and maths test.
  • Level 2 – 4 GCSEs at grades 9 – 4/A* – D (English and maths desirable) or a Level 1 qualification.
  • Level 3 – 4 GCSEs at grade 9 – 5/A* – C, including English and Maths, or a Level 2 qualification (Merit or Distinction) in a related subject. Note: for skills-based qualifications you might need the skills at Level 2 in order to enrol onto the Level 3.

 

Moving forward

  • Progress to Level 3 Diploma Legal Secretaries, Level 3 Diploma in Administration, L3 Diploma in Business.
  • Employment as a junior administrator/secretary in a wide variety of business environments.

Achievment

Learners must achieve a minimum of 45 credits. 21 credits from the Mandatory Group and a minimum of 14 credits from Optional Group A. A maximum of 10 credits can be achieved from Optional Group B and a maximum of 6 credits can be achieved from Optional Group C. A minimum of 36 credits must be achieved at Level 2 and above.

Mandatory Units – The learner must achieve 21 credits from the 6 units in this Mandatory Group.

Optional Group A – The learner must achieve a minimum of 14 credits in this Optional Group.

Optional Group B – The learner must achieve a maximum of 10 credits in this Optional Group.

Optional Group C – The learner must achieve a maximum of 6 credits in this Optional Group.
